Mr. Gilstrap was born in Pickens County on June 24, 1942 to the late Arthur and Violet Stephens Gilstrap. He retired as a machinist from Alice Manufacturing at the Arial Plant and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Gilstrap enjoyed trips to the beach and being outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He loved his family and cherished every moment he could spend with them, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gilstrap is survived by one son: Olin Eugene Gilstrap of Pickens; three brothers: Mack Gilstrap, Jack Gilstrap, and David Gilstrap, all of Pickens; and four sisters: Shirley Morgan of Seneca, Edith Owens of Easley, Judy Parris of Pickens, and Martha Tucker of Pickens. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Samantha Vera, Mindy Anders, Brandy Gilstrap, Melinda Gomez, and Paige Leslie; thirteen great-grandchildren: Marissa Vera, Emanuel Vera, Alma Morales, Helena Gomez, Cody Gilstrap, Destiny Gilstrap, Sierra Gilstrap, Corey Phillips, Bryson Phillips, Jacelyn Leslie, Zane Leslie, Gabe Leslie, and Nova Leslie; and two great-great-grandchildren: Yandel Vera and Kataliyah Tolentino.
In addition to his loving wife and his parents, Mr. Gilstrap was preceded in death by a daughter: Tina Moreno; a brother: Steve Gilstrap; a sister: Katie Gilstrap; and a grandchild: Jonathan Galloway.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Dillard Funeral Home.
