Pickens – Leila Nell “Tiny” Carter, 84, widow of the late Thomas J. Carter, went home to be with her Lord and Savior died Thursday October 19, 2017. Tiny was born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late James Henry Kircus, Sr. and the late Mattie Evatt Kircus. In her early years she was employed with Bunk Nealey’s Clothing Store in Pickens, she was retired from the Singer Company and the School District of Pickens County. Tiny was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Always on the go, she was very involved in her community including The Pickens County Historical Society, Pickens Senior Center, and Pickens YMCA. Tiny was an avid Clemson Tigers fan, always saying her blood runs orange and she also followed Atlanta Braves Baseball. In addition to her parents and husband, Tiny was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Kircus, James Kircus and Edward Kircus and sister Dora E. Brejcha and her special friend Fred G. Stewart. Survivors include a brother Harley Kircus (Jerri) of Greenville, sisters Sara Pilgrim of Easley and Barbara Moore of Union, a number of nieces and nephews and her furry baby ”Princess”. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Dillard Funeral Home with funeral services following at 3:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
