Mrs. Joan Rauschenbach

Joan Neary Rauschenbach, 83, of Pickens, passed away the morning of December 7th, 2016 at St. Francis hospital in the company of her family and her Rosary. Joan was born in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Loretta C. Volrath Neary. Joan attended St. Joseph Elementary School and LaPorte High School in LaPorte. On June 18, 1955 she married William “Bill” Arthur Rauschenbach at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaPorte, Indiana. In 1965 the Rauschenbach’s moved to Pickens, South Carolina where Joan and Bill raised their nine children, lovingly cared for and enjoyed many grandchildren & great grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Joan was always on the go especially enjoying her involvement in Holy Cross Catholic Church, the company of her many friends whether it be playing cards, board games, or just to visit. Survived by eight of their nine children and (spouses): Mary Bell, Matt (Cheryl), Sue (Donnie) Green Jr., John (Kathy), Nancy (Avery) Bagwell, Amy (Ralph) Hood, Carol (Rob) Lawson, and Margaret (David) Holder, their 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers Charles and Dennis (Suzi), and her sisters Mary Ann Cover, Kay (Herb) Schumann, Caroline (Mike) Coughlan, and Geri (Barry) Kiernan. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Bill and son Joe, her parents, brothers Jim, Tim, and Mike, sisters Lois, Shirley Jean, Susan, Charlene and Helen, grandson Carlos Rauschenbach, and son in law Danny Bell. The family will receive friends Sunday December 11th at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Highway, Pickens, SC from 5 to 8 PM with a Rosary following visitation. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 12:15 p.m. Monday, December 12th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 558 Hampton Avenue in Pickens with The Reverend James Dubrouillet officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum. A tribute to Joan’s life as well as messages of condolence may be expressed by visiting www.dillardfunerals.com.
