Alton was born in Alpine, Alabama to the late James David and Edith Mary Chapman Graham. Alton grew up in Greenville, SC where he graduated from Parker High School in 1961 before joining the U.S. Army. It was at Parker High School where he met his wife of 60 years, Marian Watson Graham. After his service in the Army, Alton worked in the heavy equipment parts business with Stone Heavy Vehicle Specialists for many years before retiring from Fleet Pride of Greenville. Alton was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed spending his time golfing, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved his family and he was proud to serve his country.
In addition to his wife Marian, Alton is survived by his two children, Scott Graham (Jennifer) of Easley, SC; Amy Graham Metcalf (Shane) of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Clayton Graham, Libby Metcalf, Katherine Graham, Mary Lorraine Metcalf; and a sister Judy Graham Abercrombie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens, SC. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens, SC
