George was born in Cades, South Carolina on December 6, 1926 to the late George and Lucy Bracy Boney. He went to school in Sumter, South Carolina and graduated from Edmunds High School in June 1944. George served in the Army Air Corps and later in the Air Force. He worked as a Watchmaker at Pace Jewelers in Pickens from 1954 until he retired. George was a member of Pickens Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the men’s chorus. He also served on the Pickens City Council from 1983 until 2003.
Mr. Boney is survived by his loving wife: Patricia M. Boney; one daughter: Cynthia D. Boney of Pickens; two sons: George C. Boney (Ellen) of Columbia, and Robert M. Boney (Sheila) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and three grandchildren: Hanna Montgomery, George Boney, and Emerson Smith.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by 5 siblings: William Boney, Robert Boney, Edward Boney, Emily Lee, and Alice Amentler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Pickens Presbyterian Church. 311 W. Main St. Pickens, SC 29671.
Family and friends are welcomed to drop by Dillard Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 to sign the register book and pay their respects to Mr. Boney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pickens Presbyterian Church or the Pickens Senior Citizens Center.
