Born on January 12, 1943, in Burnsville, N.C., he was the son of the late Thurmond and Carrie Myrtle Hensley King and was of the Baptist faith. He loved listening to anything Bluegrass, an avid Nascar racing fan and enjoyed cutting grass.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Edna Sutherland King; two daughters, Brenda Eldridge (Frankie) of Dacusville and Glenda Hester (Clay) of Dacusville; a son, Jr. King of Dacusville; one brother, Ricky King of Burnsville, NC; two sisters, Annette Miller of Easley and Loretta Rose of Tyler, TX; four grandchildren, Johnny Stancell (Jeanine), Bryan Eldridge (Beth), Amanda Emory (Justin) and Jake King (Jamie) and four great grandchildren, Steven Stancell, Caitlyn Stancell, Daisy Emory and Bentley King.
Mr. King was also predeceased by a son, Talmadge Lee King and three brothers, Bobby King, Howard King and Ben King.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with the Reverend Leon Shipman officiating.
The family will be at the home of the daughter, Brenda Eldridge.
