Barbara Ailene Gilstrap

Barbara was born in Pickens County, South Carolina on November 28, 1935. She was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for many years. Barbara was retired from Winn-Dixie, Inc. as a well-known, favorite cashier.

Barbara was the fourth child of eleven children born to Clarence Elwell and Myrtie Hudson Gilstrap of Sunset, South Carolina.

She is survived by one brother, Clarence E. Gilstrap, Jr. (Susan) of Sunset; five sisters: Myrtle Barker of Apopka, FL, Ethel Child of Anderson, SC, Evelyn Gilstrap of Sunset, SC, Shirley Adams of Pickens, SC, and Faye Gilstrap of Sunset, SC; 9 nephews; 7 nieces; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

Barbara was predeceased by two sisters: Louise G. Barker and Betty G. Williams; two brothers: B. Ernest Gilstrap and Frank W. Gilstrap.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671.

A funeral will take place Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, 126 Mt Bethel Church Rd, Sunset, SC 29685, followed by a burial in the church cemetery.
