Salvatore Gianforte

He was born on June 1, 1932, in Mistretta, Sicily, Italy, to Sebastiana and Vincenzo Gianforte. After marrying the love of his life, Arcangela, in 1971, they immigrated to the United States to pursue and realize the American Dream in Brooklyn, New York. They had five children, Sebina, Anna, Angela, Maria, and Vincenzo. They then relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1984.

He was a dedicated husband, loving father, and joyful grandfather, known to the grandchildren as Nonno. Family brought great joy and many smiles to him. He was always there to support his children sending them all to college to provide them with better opportunities than he himself had. True to his Italian heritage, he enjoyed his daily pasta and wine spritzer. He loved to tell stories of his jobs in Sicily and his story of coming to America.

He worked for himself in the craft of marble and terrazzo flooring which is showcased in his home. Sal learned hard work from a very young age and instilled that in his family. If something broke, his grandchildren knew that Nonno could fix it, because he fixed everything! He loved his garden of fruits and vegetables and knew the seasons by when the broccoli rabe, fennel, tomatoes, eggplant, and fava beans would grow. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who filled his life with happiness. He also loved to travel and wanted to show his children the world.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Arcangela, and his son Vincenzo. He is survived by his 4 daughters and 11 grandchildren.

On Saturday, August 14, 2021, the family will be having a Visitation at 9:30am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00am at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary at 200 West Beardsley Road.
