Ronald Amos McDonald passed away on December 27, 2022, in Gilbert, Arizona at the age of 83. Ron was born November 25, 1939, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Amos and Estelle McDonald. After high school in Phoenix, Arizona, Ron joined the Air Force where he served for four years and was able to travel the globe to such places as The Azores and Iceland. After serving in the Air Force, Ron returned to Arizona where he met his beloved wife of 56 years, Madalane “Maggie” McDonald. Ron and Maggie have two children, Stacy (McDonald) Barragree and Eric McDonald. Ron and Maggie also have 6 beautiful grandkids and one great-grandson.
In addition to leading a beautiful family, Ron was a hard-working carpenter and loved retirement. He always kept busy working with wood and remodeling their home in Show Low, Arizona. He also took up golf after retirement, which he enjoyed with his two sisters. He was an avid traveler around Arizona and made many road trips to Kansas and Nebraska to visit his kids and grandkids.
Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Amos and Estelle McDonald and son-in-law Troy Barragree. Ron was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend who is survived by his wife, Madalane; sisters Patsy Veldhuizen and Judy McDonald; two children, Stacy Barragree; Eric McDonald and wife (Toni); along with grandchildren Corey Barragree, Conner Barragree and his wife (Cassandra), Karsten Barragree and his wife (Mallory), Kamille Barragree, Pearson and Amos McDonald. Ron is also survived by many nephews and nieces, a great-grandson Mason Barragree, and his sweet cat Callie.
