Nicole Suzanne Mason, 38, died peacefully at her Phoenix home with family by her side Sunday, August 7, 2022.
Nikki was born December 25, 1983 to Leslie E. Mason and Gerri A. Cantu. Nikki was always eager to share with anyone she met that her birthday was the same day as Jesus. She rejoiced in knowing this and believed in him wholeheartedly.
In 2003 Nikki graduated from North Canyon High School. Nikki was able to continue her education at Shadow Mountain High School in the Paradise Valley School District Transition Program. This allowed her to learn many life skills from balancing a checking account, applying for a job, utilizing city bus transportation, as well as calling a taxi. It was during this time Nikki was introduced to YoungLife Phoenix Capernaum. This organization allowed Nikki and other teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experience life as God designed it to be lived. Nikki enjoyed the time with her friends and the many trips attending camp. By the time she graduated, receiving her second diploma, she was employed as an usher at her first and only job, Harkins Theatres. Nikki was employed by Harkins Theatres for over 15 years.
Nikki loved to color and draw. She had an iPod and iPhone, but cherished her CD player to listen to music. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Many trips boating on various Arizona lakes including Lake Powell, off roading in the Imperial Sand Dunes and Arizona desert, attending Offroad Races in Arizona, Mexico and Nevada or just sitting by the camp fire in Happy Jack.
Nikki is survived by her parents Gerri Cantu and Mark Clay, her brother Fast Clay and sister-in-law Laura Clay, her sister Nature Rae Mason; her maternal grandmother Zelva Campbell and her cat Princess aka Scumbag. Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and enormous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandfather Jeronimo Guadalupe Cantu, Father Leslie E Mason, Paternal Grandparents George and Guindell Sutton Mason, Uncle Dennis Mason.
Nikki will be remembered for her beautiful smile, well-timed sassiness and her genuine honesty. She will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held Monday, August 22, 3:00p.m. at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E Greenway Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Younglife Phoenix Capernaum at phoenixcapernaum.younglife.org. or American Cancer Society.
