She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerold Kilgore, after 71 years of marriage.
Born on November 2, 1930, to Harold H. Hardin and Nellie M. Hardin in Huntsville, MO, Mary was the oldest of three siblings, including her brother Ben Hardin and sister Jane Campbell. Growing up on a family farm, she cultivated her love for family and community, which remained a cornerstone of her life.
Mary is survived by her five children: Jerold Kilgore (Debbie), Steven Kilgore (Selene), Lecia Schulte (Daniel), Tommy Kilgore (Kellie), and Ronald Kilgore. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A devoted Christian, Mary was deeply involved in her church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and playing the piano and organ. Her outgoing nature and servant's heart touched everyone she met. She believed in the power of forgiveness, second chances, and living by the Golden Rule. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking, cherished time spent with family, and made countless trips back to Missouri to visit loved ones.
After moving to Arizona in 1960 with her husband and children, she continued to foster connections with family and friends, often chatting on the phone for hours. Mary loved camping, RV trips, and attending family sports games, always bringing joy and encouragement to those around her.
Mary’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery, located at 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027. The viewing will begin at 10 AM, followed by the service from 10 AM to 12 Noon, concluding with her burial.
