was born on February 1, 1946, in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She graduated from the Instituto
Guadalajara in 1961 and worked for Azteca Bakery & Mexican Food and Honeywell. Martha
was God-fearing, strong and a loving mother who alongside her husband made the sacrifice to
immigrate to the United States to raise their three children in hopes for a better life. It was at the
Evangelical Baptist Church where Fortino and Martha were ministered to which led to their
salvation in Jesus Christ. She was the heart of our family and kept us united throughout her life.
Martha was a kind caring friend to everyone and will be dearly missed. She most enjoyed our
family gatherings and holidays, including Thanksgiving dinners and making tamales for
Christmas.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Rafael Paez Sanchez and Rafaela Ibarra
Maldonado. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Fortino C. Lujan, her brothers
and sisters Antonio (Guadalupe) Paez Ibarra, Tomas (Gloria) Paez Ibarra, Dolores Edith Paez
Ibarra, Gloria (Jose Luis) Paez de Gonzalez , Aida (Jorge) Paez de Leon. Her children are Paul
Jesus (Kim) Lujan, Monica de Lourdes (Joe) Gallardo, Dennisse Maria (Cisco) Moreno and
seven grandchildren, Brittany, Alec, Labricio, Zecheriah, Isabela, Sebastian, Benicio and four
great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Martha will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the
Evangelical Baptist Church, 2925 W Polk, Phoenix, AZ 85009. A funeral service will occur
Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 2925 W Polk, Phoenix, AZ 85009. A
graveside service will occur Friday, May 27, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at
Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
