April 25, 1938-December 31, 2020
Marilyn Louise Rosenfeld was born April 25th, 1938 in Phoenix, Arizona, to Melvin and Louise Saxman. She married Frederick H. Rosenfeld on August 10th, 1963. A third-generation Arizonan, Marilyn personified Old Phoenix, grace, composure, and dignity.
She spoke her truth quietly and clearly—with elegance. She was determined and could be headstrong because she was humble and was a gentle soul with a truly compassionate heart. Wise in the battles she chose, she was the linchpin of our family. She will forever be deeply loved.
Marilyn was a quietly private person with an understated wit, but those fortunate to have her touch their lives were profoundly impacted. An avid reader, a marvelous cook and baker, a master seamstress, and an advocate for the importance of education, so many of her loves contributed to enriching the lives of those around her and her tradition of care. Marilyn’s inner beauty, generosity, and strength are exemplified by a mantra of hers:
Find a bit of beauty in the world today—
Share it.
If you can’t find it, create it.
Some days this may be hard to do.
Persevere.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Fred; her sister, Linda; her daughter, Ann; her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Brent; her son, Bill and daughter-in-law Tracey; and her grandchildren: Sarah, Daniel, Michael, Lauren, and Tyler.
Due to the pandemic, there are no services planned at this time but an update will be provided when available. The family respectfully requests donations to Hospice of the Valley in lieu of flowers.
