Margaret was born on January 10, 1932, to Charles and Emma (Wagner) Odom near Ellery, Illinois. Margaret graduated from Fairfield Community High School in 1950.
In 1954, Margaret met and married the love of her life Alan Erwin of Louisville, Illinois. Margaret and Al went on to have two children, Coni (Williams) and Tim. The family resided in Fairfield, Illinois until 1972 before making a brief move west to Tempe, Arizona. They returned to the Midwest, for Al’s work, residing in Greencastle, Indiana until 1976. That’s when they made Arizona their permanent home, residing in Tempe, Mesa and finally Gilbert in 2003.
After graduating high school, Margaret worked in Fairfield for Skiles Oil Company, Airtex Products and Sexton Manufacturing Company. After the permanent move to Arizona, Margaret was a dedicated and hard working sales associate for Sears for over 30 years.
Margaret loved homemaking and was an excellent cook. She was also an accomplished artist, winning various awards for her oil paintings. Margaret and Al were deeply devoted to God, church, their parents, families, and country.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Charlene (Thomas) Keener and Marilyn (Edwin) Elliott, and husband Al. She is survived by her children, Coni Williams of Sun City, Arizona, and Tim Erwin (Gretchen) of Phoenix, Arizona, four grandchildren, Erin Bergen, Chloe (Jason) Stephan, Beau Williams, Matthew Erwin, one great grandchild and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery, 200 West Beardsley Road, on January 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
