As an ED resident from LongIsland Jewish, I did a fellowship at Jacobi. Kurtland and I went to lunch at an ultrasound course. I  remember that he welcomed me when few others did. I won’t forget Kurtland. He was a kind man who deserved more

Every so often there is that resident who by their natural presence alone inspires you to be a better doctor, a better mentor, a better parent, and a better person. Kurtland, with your infectious smile and gentle nature, you were that resident. Thank you for touching our lives. We are all better for it.

I didn't know Kurt but have read about his passing with distress.  From what  I read, he seemed like the most exemplary of men: kind,  smart, loyal, fun, giving, cultured, and, wordly.  This planet needs more like him.  My condolences.

Our son, Josh, went to high school with Kurt.  We are so saddened by his passing. Wishing you and your family strength and peace.
