Justin was born February 16, 1990 in Rawlins, WY to Lawrence P Barela and Maryann T Lasco. The family moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1998. Justin graduated from Rocky Mountain High School with the class of 2008 and continued his education at Colorado State University. Justin graduated the CSU School of Business with the class of 2016.
After graduating from CSU Justin moved to Dallas, TX to begin working in the financial field. His work took him to Seattle, WA and eventually back to Fort Collins, CO where he landed his dream job as a financial analyst.
Justin was never one to sit around and wait for life to happen, he sought out new opportunities and adventure wherever he could. He enjoyed eating out at new and unique restaurants. He loved his Denver Broncos and never passed up an opportunity to go to a game. He played ice hockey, was a fantastic snowboarder, went fishing and hunting with family, and even excelled at riding motorcycles. But his one true passion were his bicycles. Whether it be down-hill biking in Winter Park, CO, trail riding through Moab, UT, or cruising through old town, if Justin could be riding his bike, he would.
On September 22, 2020 Justin was diagnosed with brain cancer. In true Justin fashion, he took the problem head on. He underwent major brain surgery and several treatments and continued to fight to the very end.
Justin is survived by his parents, Lawrence (Sonya) Barela, Maryann (Jeff) Lasco, siblings Jyssica Lasco, Kevin Lasco, Corey (Mindy) Lasco, Scott (Amanda) Barela, Kai (Pilar) Hale, Justin Schafer, Jason Schafer, Tiffany (Dalton) Cronkhite, Vanessa Schafer, Tyrney Lasco, Marcus Lasco, Mia D’Ippolito, grandparents Dave (LeeAnn) Barela, Margaret Barela, Johnny (Corine) Pacheco, Eugene (Darlene) Lasco, Aunts and Uncles Ben (Tina) Barela, Christina (JT) Thomas, Janie Gutierrez Croft, Diane (Carlos) Gutirrez-Meikel, Mike (Kindra) Pacheco, Kim (Colt) Stratton, Mike (Kim) Lasco, Jan (Chris) Gulbrandson, Karry (Scott) Wilcox, Mike (Signe) Assels, girlfriend Tess Zaccardi and numerous cousins and extended family.
