Julia was born March 31, 1934 in Warner, OK to Robert E. & Sarah J. Jones. She graduated from Mesa High in 1953 with a four-year perfect attendance award and from Lamson Business College in 1986 with a degree in business office technology. She married George Myers, in 1953 after he returned home from the Korean war. They moved to Phoenix where Julia began working for different businesses i.e. Clothing City, Motorola, General Semiconductor, and various home health services as a caregiver. To this union, the couple welcomed six children into their home and they taught them God’s laws, as well as life skills & trades. In 1973 she married the late Elder Henry Shepherd and to this union they welcomed one son. Years later, she married Superintendent Nicholas White, before his death. Thereafter, she married her childhood friend, Billy Rhinehart and they remained friends upon her passing.
Julia was accomplished at reciting the books of the bible at the age of eight and has always loved the word of God. During high school she was active in various youth clubs, the marching band, and the girls’ athletic associations. She was a dedicated individual who loved helping others and who was passionate about helping the youth department. She was affiliated with various COGIC churches, a current member of Whole Truth COGIC/Life Changers Global Ministries and often volunteered for different Women auxiliary events.
Julia is survived by Billy Rhinehart; (children) George Myers, Jr (Banita), Arlinda Fennell (Charles), Lorinda Scott, Phillip Myers, Rodney Myers, Vincent Myers, Charles Shepherd; (siblings) RosaLee Gordon (Oklahoma), William Jones (Oklahoma) and a host of Grands, Great-grands, Great-great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by (her siblings) Sam Cook, Patricia Cook, Booker Jones, Celia Hill, Robert Jones, John Wiley Jones, Carless Jones.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Church of God in Christ - Arizona Jurisdiction Headquarters, 1725 E. Brill St. 85006. There will be a viewing at 9 am and the Homegoing Service will follow at 10 am. Apostle Earl Newton will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Julia’s life. The family would like to thank A Place at Home; Good Samaritan Hospital staff and La Estancia Rehabilitation Center for their kind care and dedication.
