John Wesley Trimble

91, passed away on March 22, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan, sons Steve (Bobbie), Randy (Kristi) and Mike, grandchildren Christian (Keri), John, Chris, Pat and surviving daughter-in-law, Robin, great grandchildren Jake and Rachel. Preceding John in death are his parents Grover and Susan, sisters Ruth and Eileen, brothers Lyle and Paul, and grandson Wesley. John was born in Jewett, Illinois on July 3, 1920. His parents moved the family to Tempe in 1928. He attended Tempe High School and Arizona State Teachers College (ASU). After graduation, he married his life-long sweetheart Joan. After enlisting in the Army, he served overseas during World War II. On returning, he and Joan raised their three sons in Tempe. John built a successful farm implement business. He was active in the community. He was a member of Tempe Rotary for over 50 years and past-president of the club. He was on the TUHS Board of Education for 16 years and served as president. He also served on the Arizona Interscholastic Athletic Association Board. He was active in Scouting and served as an elder in his church. John will be remembered for his humility, kindness and consideration of others. He was a compassionate listener. Above all, he will be remembered for his devotion to his wife Joan. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:30pm on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Community Christian Church located at 1701 S. College Ave, Tempe, AZ 85281.
