I met John when I was about 24 or 25 years old, I'm now 46. He was a very close family friend, he was family. I lived with John and his family for a while, John had a big heart and was very easy going. We were inseparable, hanging out , on the phone, but mostly in the gym together is where we loved to be! Me and my family moved up here to Prescott, Arizona 4 yrs ago, me and John tried to stay in touch but definitely not as much. I texted him on the night of May 26 at 9:16 pm , my text would not get to John that night, it kept saying text not delivered ...this is what that text said to John that night: "Hey John, I know it's late but for some reason I was just really thinking about you and thought I better check In and see how your doing" I called John today to give him my new cell number, his phone is no longer in service it said! So I began to panic and went online to see if my worse fears had come true.... and well they had! I had lost a very good friend on June 8 and on May 26 I reached out to him and failed. That's aproximatly 2 weeks that I could have been there by my friend's side in his last days, that bothers me more than anyone could ever understand. I'm sure it will haunt me for a very long time to come. I'm sorry John I miss you and you meant a lot to me and my family. I love you John, now rest easy my friend. If there is anyone out there that reads this that I could talk to about John it would mean a great deal to me, I'm sure some of you know me ... some of you don't. My best memories of John is; everyday @ 5:00PM on my way out the door he would be walking to his car too, he'd always have some funny comment to make my travels home enjoyable... Love you John  Avnet Lisa

John, you were an amazing man.  You were always positive, friendly, and a true joy to be around.  As many people have said, you never had a bad word to say about anyone.  That is a small miracle these days... You were always eager and happy to help a friend or a stranger.  I was very happy you and Denise got together.  You were a perfect couple.  You both shared so much ... compassion, optimism, strength and happiness.  As Charles said, if someone didn't like you, there was something wrong with them.  As I told Spence, the longer someone knew you, the more they liked you.  You will forever be greatly missed my friend.

Oh John, I'm angry that you lost the battle with cancer, and relieved that you are no longer in pain.  It was a pleasure knowing you while we both worked at Avnet.

My heart and prayers go out to all of those who knew John. His brilliant smile and heart for listening and caring will be missed by all. I met John at Avnet. Not a day went by that he didn't have a smile and a kind word for each person he encountered on his daily round. Denise and family my heart breaks for you. I would like to offer my most sincere condolences for the loss of your wonderful husband, John.  I want you and the rest of your/his family to know what a significant and wide spread positive impact he had on many people's lives.  I can't tell you how many times I was walking around the halls at Price Road all stressed out or thinking of a million things and I would come upon John and his big smile and for a moment, he brought me back to reality and what was really important in life.
  
 I always joked with him that Bawol should have monthly meetings with him because he knew more about what was going in in that building than anyone!
  
 He will always be remembered as a positive and happy person.  I am a better person for having known him.

I just learned of John's passing. I am so sorry to hear this, Denise. You and your family are in my prayers.

Wednesday, June 8th, the world lost an incredible man to brain cancer. Many tributes have already been posted about John and they all convey a similar message about a wonderful man who spread happiness wherever he went. I spent many lunch hours at LA Fitness with John and our gym crew.  John acted as our personal trainer and took so much pride in watching us get stronger over time. I suspect he also got a little entertainment in making us hurt along the way. John had a presence that made you want to be around him-everyone at the gym knew John by name and he always made time to make them feel like a friend. In all of the years I knew John, I never once heard him say a bad word about anyone nor ever voice a complaint. I was fortunate to have lunch with John about 6 weeks ago. He was all smiles, made a few jokes and even under his circumstances with battling brain cancer, still not one complaint. John exemplified so many positive characteristicshe knew no strangers and you could always count on John to ask how you were doing and listen to your response because he genuinely cared. Last Wednesday, June 8th, the world lost an incredible man yet the positive impact he made on so many will live on within everyone that knew John.

I had the absolute pleasure to work with both John and his lovely wife Denise at Avnet. John always greeted everyone with a smile and kind words. My heart breaks for John and Denise's families. We are praying for strength for all of you, and sending our heartfelt condolences.

You are deeply missed by your loved ones, family and friends and they know you are watching over them always from Heaven Rest In Peace.

I grew up in the same apartments with Johnnie and Troy...My mom would take them to school with me at times..i havent seen him since high school even though ive seen Troy.Prayers and blessings to the family

Denise and family, John was such a nice, wonderful man.  That smile of his was great. You guys are in our prayers and remember each day as the sun comes up that is John's smile up there, looking down at you all.

Im so blessed that we were able to remain close friend's, and that you and the kids stayed connected.  You were a big influence on Daniel,  and he will always carry your memory in his success as a personal trainer.  You blessed me and the kids with 9 yrs of being a family,  i will always be greatful for that.    Im so happy that you found happiness and love with Denise, and was able to spend your last days loving someone,  and having someone love you.
