Jeanette Kalous Daane died on July 17th, 2023. Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Frank and Adela Kalous on June 7, 1929. She married, Calvin Daane, a fellow music student at Milwaukee State Teachers College (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) in 1948.
After earning the B.A. Degree at Rockford College in Illinois in 1952, she taught schools in Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores, Michigan, in Bedford, Indiana, in Dade County, Miami, Florida and Tempe, Arizona. Her Masters in Education was granted at Indiana University; Masters in Library Science at University of Hawaii and Masters in Humanities at Arizona State University.
She is survived by her daughter Jeanie Ghose ( Mark), son Pieter ( Joanne ) and daughter Elizabeth Stolle { Carl}. Grandchildren are Sarah and Kevin Ghose ; Calvin and Matthew Daane; Jackson and Ben Stolle. Derek Ghose, an Iraq war veteran, predeceased his grandmother. Great grandchildren are Ryder and Mila Ghose and Colin and Julia Stolle and Jack Arsenio Daane.
Jeanette was an Educational Services Ubfarian at Mesa Community College for many years and a storyteller for local schools, libraries,and events. Her main interest was in folktales and myths. She was a lifelong member of American Library Association and in 1984 received the Distinguished Service Award from Arizona Library Association. In 2010 the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute awarded her the Honorary Academic Certificate in Storytelling.
