James Stanford Benedict, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his residence in Glendale, Arizona. He was born on October 22, 1950 to the late Stanford and Aurelia Benedict in Alhambra, California. He joined the United States Navy in 1970 serving 2 tours in Vietnam. On February 19, 1972 he married Debra R. Canipe in La Puente, California. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his family and anyone that wanted to tag along.
James is survived by his loving spouse of 49 years, Debra; 3 children, Crystal (Timothy) Bunce, Heidi (Patrick) McBroom and Jeremy (Shahnyn) Benedict; 3 siblings, Darlene Lyell, Barbara Debrow and Mary King; 7 grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor McBroom, Stanford and Kyle Bunce, Isabella, Everett and Emerson Benedict; 1 great grandchild Axel McBroom; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanford and Aurelia Benedict.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on the 24th of April, 2021 at Pure Heart Church, 14240 N. 43rd Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85306. In lieu of flowers, contributions in James’s honor may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 North Randolph Street Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
