Jack arrived in this world on November 12, 1940 in Springfield, IL to Galvin and Mabel Richards. At the age of 12 his family came to Phoenix on vacation and never left. Jack had a passion for fast cars, boats and motorcycles. He loved being at the heart of all the action and excitement with whatever was going on at the moment. Jack was the father to one son, Randy, whom he loved dearly and was so very proud of him.
In 2002 he met Rita, she was the love of his life. Jack was an entrepreneur and successful business owner of Dave’s Kart and Cycle for over 40 years. After a brief retirement he went to work for his dear friend Rick Hatch building custom Harley’s and having fun at Hacienda Harley and Eagle Ryder. One day he decided to try his hand at woodworking, he discovered a new talent and ABOVE GROUND GARDENS was born. Every Saturday was spent at Uptown Farmers Market selling his beautiful cedar garden boxes. Jack loved making new friends and cherished many lifelong friendships.
In 2017 he received a devastating cancer diagnosis. He fought an incredible courageous battle for years, and on Saturday March 16, 2024 he was called home. He is survived by his loving wife Rita, son Randy (Loretta), Grandson Ryan (Anastasia), Granddaughter Staci, 5 great grandchildren and many fur babies. Jack had a creed that he lived his life by, “HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS” JACK WON!!!
