Helen Jeanne Torrance passed away surrounded by friends on December 12, 2017. It was her 88th birthday. Helen was born December 12, 1929, on Long Island in Rockville Center, New York to Harry and Julia Torrance. She had one brother, Robert (deceased) and is survived by nephew Scotty, niece Lucy and dearest friends Sandy and Jane. Helen’s first professional career was in the restaurant and catering business in New York until she moved to Phoenix in 1962 when she began a successful career in real estate, retiring in 1984. Helen loved life: music, dancing, golfing, and going to the theatre. She was a sports fan extraordinaire and cheered on the Phoenix Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, and Phoenix Mercury. Helen dedicated herself to helping women and men who struggled with alcohol addiction. She, herself was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 35 years, and her memory will live long in the lives of those she touched. To honor her, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities, The Carter Center at 453 Freedom Pkwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. Memorial celebration will be held on Friday, December 22, 2:30 p.m. at the Beatitudes Campus Life Center, 1610 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, AZ.
