Harvey Snyder Jr., 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. Harvey was a native Phoenician, having been born and raised in Phoenix. Harvey was a veteran of the Korean War as a member of the crew of the U.S.S. McDermott, which saw many battles while he was aboard ship. Much of what he experienced stayed with him throughout his life.
After returning to Phoenix, Harvey joined the Phoenix Police Department, a job he loved, for 26 years. Harvey worked in Homicide the last 13 years of service with the Police Department. Harvey trained a large number of officers while on duty, and was a part of many important investigations.
He is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Harvey was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). In addition, he was a member of the VFW. Harvey enjoyed a good game of pool, woodworking, leatherworking, fishing, and especially NASCAR racing.
His services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery; with Visitation at 12:00 pm, Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, and the burial to follow immediately after. Harvey Snyder Jr. was loved by many, and will be missed by all.
