Harvey W Lindsey Jr.

A native Phoenician, he was born April 19th, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona, and a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and Arizona State University.

Harvey was a devoted husband to Georgia M. Lindsey for 60 years, sharing a love story that began in high school and blossomed into a lifetime of happiness. Their 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated in the Greek Islands this past June. He is survived by his

Son, Myron Lindsey, Daughter-in-law, Myra Sumaraga, and Granddaughter Mylaya Lindsey.

Also by his Daughter, Kandace Lindsey-Cerqueira, Son-in-Law, William Cerqueira, and Grandson Cassio Lindsey Cerqueira. Also by his Sister, Alice Mayfield.

Harvey's life touched many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A passionate global traveler, he loved exploring the world, connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and learning about their stories. He enjoyed engaging in conversations and discovering something new about everyone he met.

A lifelong music enthusiast, he played the saxophone from high school and was a member of a band with his former classmate/ musician, David Phillips. Harvey played around town in different bands in Phoenix in the 60’s. Later in life, it became very important to Harvey to dedicate his musical talents to his church home of First Institutional Baptist church. He sang with the FIBC men’s choir, and also several performances on his saxophone throughout the years he attended. His most recent performance was for First Institutional Baptist Church's Senior Luncheon. He had a deep appreciation for a wide range of music, including Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Womack, Hank Crawford, John Coltrane, and Stanley Clarke, among others.

Harvey's career in aviation spanned over 50 years. Harvey started as a Sky Cab at Sky Harbor Airport gaining recognition from the Phoenix mayor for improvements he made to the airport. He then joined TWA, quickly moving through the ranks to manage a region and take customers all around the world to showcase TWA's new exciting destinations. He left TWA with the AA merger and joined America West Airlines one day before 9/11. Harvey gained superstar status at AWA and was quickly assigned the most important accounts. He moved forward with the US Airways merger until his career came full circle when he rejoined American Airlines. After a partial retirement he was recruited to consult for General Dynamics. Harvey has dedicated over 50 years to the family of airlines that make up American Airlines today and Harvey's footprint runs deep in the aviation-travel community as he played a key role in its evolution. Because of Harvey Lindsey’s has contributed greatly to the airline industry, he has left an indelible mark on the aviation industry.”

A funeral service for Harvey will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 2300 W Van Buren St, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
