Gene T. Hoffman was born in Rochester, New York on the 23rd of August, 1923 to Edwin C Hoffman and Della Kester Hoffman. He passed away peacefully on October 20, 2013 at the age of 90. Gene received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA where he majored in Philosophy. He served in the US Army during WWII. Gene pursued a career in the field of social work during the 60’s. Through the years his heart continued to hold compassion for the plight of the underprivileged. Gene was gifted in hospitality; He joyfully served others for many years through employing his unique talent at prominent country clubs in California and Colorado. His final 32 years were spent in Phoenix, Arizona, where he retired from the City of Phoenix Police Department. Gene is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Hoffman, two children, Bonnie Beck of Marysville CA and Mark Hoffman of Highlands Ranch, CO. Gene also had a third child. Dale Christine Stephens, who predeceased him earlier this year. Gene had five grandchildren, Serena Smith, of Oroville CA, Ezra Beck of Oroville CA, Jennifer Hoffman of Santa Monica CA, Stefanie Hoffman of Highlands Ranch, CO, Wayne Hoffman of Highlands Ranch, CO and three great grandchildren, Sierra and Senona Castro, daughters of Serena Beck Smith, Brielle Hoffman, daughter of Stefanie Hoffman and one great –great grandson, Kameron Fattal, son of Senona Castro. Gene’s own brand of quick-witted humor charmed not only those he knew well but also those he would happen to meet. He was dearly loved and he will be greatly missed.
