Edward F. Tang, a devoted son and beloved brother, was born on May 27, 1945 in Phoenix, Arizona to Harry S. and Mary Tang. He went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2015. Ed was an Arizona State University graduate, receiving both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters of Art degree in Math. After graduation, he moved to California to work for TRW and later Northrop Grumman as an Aerospace Engineer. For 30 years he worked in the aerospace industry, his last role as the Deputy Program Manager for the Battle Command Sustainment Support System, until his retirement in 2008. Ed was an active member of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa for 34 years. He was involved in the church’s Children’s Ministries as a Sunday School teacher for 5th and 6th grade students, a Family Leader, and as a volunteer in the Children’s Ministries office. During the summer, he was a teacher at Vacation Bible School and a counselor at Junior Camp and Family Camp. Affectionately called “Mr. Ed”, he was known for his ability to teach, his creative crafts, his patient and caring nature, and his dedication to serving others. In addition to Children’s Ministries, Ed participated in his church’s men’s ministry and prayer group. Outside of church, Ed also volunteered his time at the Kids Good News Bible Club, an inner city children’s after-school program, where he taught children about Jesus and helped them with their homework. In addition, Ed volunteered several days a week at the Irvine Senior Center by serving meals, working in the computer lab, and checking in seniors at the gym. Ed was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Eugene Huie, and sisters Sue Jane Loy and Ruth Tang. He is survived by siblings Lee Tang, Sue Hom (Jerry), Don Tang (Rose), Roy Tang (Jenny), and Jim Tang (Ona), and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held in California on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015, in Arizona at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be at 10:00 am in the Serenity Chapel, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
