He leaves his two daughters, Sheila and Jeanette, his son, David M., seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many close friends.
Born and raised in Olympia, WA, the son of Stanley and Venetia (Schultz) Wisniewski.
After graduating from William Winlock Miller High School in 1960, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he learned his enthusiasm for travel. Throughout his 20 year military career he served at Coast Guard Air Stations in Port Angeles, Kodiak, Salem, New Orleans, Cape Code and San Diego and Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix. At the time of Master Chief Petty Officer Wisniewski’s retirement he had earned the National Defense Service medal, the Good Contact Medal with one Bronze Star, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon and the CG Unit Commendation.
After retiring from the Coast Guard, David had the opportunity to join companies like Zenith Heath-Kit where he assisted develop some of the software for very early desktop computers, AEL and McDonald Douglas, which turned into his dream job when they merged with Boeing. He felt privileged to facilitate with the development of the guidance systems for the Apache and Notor helicopters.
David had a passion for old cars, fishing, travel and adventure and he was a longtime member of the VFW and served as president for 7 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 11 at 10:00am at the VFW Post 3715, with a private burial at sea at a later date.
