Daniel Patrick Butler, 49, passed away unexpectedly at Banner Baywood Hospital Mesa AZ on August 18, 2020. Dan, Danny, Dan Dan the Mountain Man, to name a few of his nicknames, was born in Mesa AZ on August 14, 1971 and grew up on the Phoenix Westside. He attended Montebello & Cordova Grade School where he played soccer for three years. He enjoyed watching soccer his entire life. Also attended Alhambra High School and worked at the Great Wall restaurant after school. During his high school days Danny and his friends built a skateboard ramp that took up the entire back yard. The ramp was Danny's pride and joy. Thrasher magazine once did a story about Danny's ramp calling it "the best transition ramp in the west". Danny thought it was a huge honor to have that distinction from the number one skateboarding magazine. After high school Danny started working for his Grandfather Tom Allison (deceased) as a Land Surveyor. He also worked with his Uncle Kim Siegfried learning and gaining the experience to be promoted to a Party Chief allowing him to run his own survey crew. Danny surveyed in Montana, Idaho, Washington and California before moving back to Arizona for good. He loved playing guitar, especially his 50 year old 12 string Aria, which gave him and anyone else in the room a lot of pleasure. He was always happy with that instrument in his hand jamming along with other musicians. The funny thing is whenever Danny smiled the room would light up. All of you folks saw it. Everyone who knew Danny knows what I'm talking about. You all know that "Danny smile" and you all know that "Danny hehehe laugh". When he smiled you couldn't help yourself, you smiled along with him. Yes, Danny had some mental health issues later in his life, but that never stopped him from treating others with kindness and respect.
Danny is survived by his son Jacob Fahland and Jacob's mother Heidi Fredrickson, his father Kenneth Butler, his mother Bonnie Butler(deceased) his sister Jennifer Porter, brother-in-law Michael Porter, nephew Noah Macnaughton and Koda Robertson, along with uncle Kim Siegfried (Eileen Siegfried), Scott Siegfried (Amy Siegfried), cousin Jessie Siegfried, Aunt Nancy Hill, Cuz Sean Mullin and so many more extended uncles, aunts, nieces, cousins and friends. The fingers of family extends a long way and Danny had a very large, loving extended family. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He was just that kind of a nice guy.
If you would like to honor Danny, please consider a donation to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Danny's services will be held on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 2PM, at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Road, Phoenix. Danny will be laid to rest with generations of Butler's and Siegfried's at St. Philip's in the Hills in Tucson, AZ.
