Curtis was born in Berino , New Mexico to Rebecca Washington and the late Lanier Washington. He was the oldest of 8 siblings. He graduated from Agua Fria High school, became a truck driver for APS (Arizona Public Service) and went on to trade school before becoming the first African American lineman in Arizona. He became a lineman with APS and went on to become a Project Inspector for Sturgeon (contractor for APS).
Curtis was a man of God, a hard worker, an amazing family man and a mentor to many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing dominoes, barbecuing and helping those in need especially the elderly and the homeless.
He will be missed by his wife Alta Mae Washington. His children Curtis Lanier Washington Jr. (Donna), Evon Lynette Washington, Marcel Lamont Washington. His grandchildren, Joslyn Pate (Will), Marissa Washington, Desmond Washington and Alicia Washington. Along with his great grandchildren, Olivia and Omaree Washington.
The service will be held on Wednesday February 16th 2022 at Beacon Light SDA Church from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at 2602 N 51st Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85035 followed by a burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery 10045 W. Thomas Rd. Avondale, Arizona 85323 at 2:00 PM.
