Charles Henry Wolz passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on September 16, 2022. He was 94 years old, born in College Point, New York to Karl and Anna Wolz. He worked as a cobbler with his father in New York. He married his childhood sweetheart Catherine Zimmermann on August 14, 1949.
Acting upon on doctor’s advice to move west, he settled in Prescott, Arizona in 1952. There he ran the Mission Lodge hotel for 11 years before moving to Phoenix in 1963. He had the opportunity to buy an apartment complex in Phoenix and continued to run that business until his passing.
He acquired his desire for travel while working as a young man for American Airlines at the relatively new LaGuardia airport in Queens, New York. He loved to travel making multiple trips to Europe, Canada, Alaska, "The Last Frontier", and many other US destinations. He also enjoyed reading about Arctic exploration, reloading and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with family.
As a semi professional photographer, he made many trips to capture that great shot. Some of his photos were published in the Arizona Highways magazine.
Considered to be a master ship model builder, he spent many years building a house full of wooden ship models. He dedicated years in the Christmas tree business.
