Charles Ray “Chuck” Waller of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on July 26, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born on September 8, 1938 to Raymond and Marjorie Waller nee Wilhelm in Dayton, Ohio where he grew up. Following High School, Chuck enlisted in the US Navy. He received training in communications and served aboard the USS Salisbury Sound (AV-13) a seaplane tender. Chuck served honorably and was discharged after four years of active duty.
In Chuck’s early working years, he held positions at Lockheed Martin and Ford Assembly Plant in Milpitas, CA, along with many years at Willard Dairy Ranch in San Martin and Atwater, CA. In the 1980’s he made the move from California to settle in Phoenix, Arizona. Before retiring in 2010, Chuck worked for 15 years at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, AZ and as a Phoenix Metro bus driver & Phoenix Airport bus driver. He was a proud member of the American Breeders Association, the Arizona Rangers and the American Legion.
Chuck is survived by his wife: Joyce Waller nee Loss; children: Kathy (Bill) Gordon nee Waller, Richard (Abigail) Waller Sr., Chris Walker and Jason (Andrea) Walker; grandchildren: Aaron (Rachel) Gordon, Brandon (Rebecca) Gordon, Beth (Nathan) Edwards nee Gordon, Daniel Canada, Timothy (Jennifer) Canada, Jess Porter, Richard Waller Jr., Shelby Walker, Michael Walker, Matthew Walker, seven great grandchildren and his first wife: Mary Waller nee Willard. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter: Carolyn Tienken nee Waller.
Chuck loved to travel on cruise ships, was a big John Wayne fan and enjoyed the classic western TV series like The Rifleman, Bonanza and Gunsmoke. He was a simple man who was an early riser and lived an honest life being happy most of the time. He spent many hours cruising on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and flying single engine airplanes. Remember Chuck when you hear some of his favorite comedians like Jeff Dunham and the Blue Collar Comedy Group (Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White and Bill Engvall) or listen to classic country music. Chuck loved his wife and family and will be greatly missed.
