Arthur R. Rivera, 73, was born on April 22, 1941 in Ajo, Arizona to Maria and Guillermo Rivera and passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on October 9, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Mary D. Rivera, his children Gerardo Arturo, Richard and William Joseph, grandchildren Seth, Broc and Cassandra, grandnieces are Christina and Patricia Rios,niece Maria Rios and nephew Fernando Rios. Siblings include Guillermina Coronado, Gloria Martinez, Eduvena Wheat and Sylvestre Rivera, stepchildren Ed (Donna) Tillie (Rick) and Henry (Lori).
Arthur served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman for over 15 years and Correctional Specialist for over 25 years. While in the Military, he was awarded the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, good conduct Medal (6th Award), Bronze Star Medal with "v" Device, Army Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Expert (Pistal .45 cal), Expert (Rifle M-16), Army Service Ribbon, 7 Overseas Service Bars, Overseas Service Ribbon (1), Republic of Vietnam Staff Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon "3".
Celebration of Life Service/Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, Arizona with a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix,
