Gene was born in Phoenix, Arizona on March 9, 1930, to Mark and Lena Terrell. After high school joined the Navy and shortly after he took over the family business, Terrell Battery Company, from his father in 1951. Building a successful business over the next 67 years he retired in 2018.
Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed Arizona, traveling all over the State for hunting and fishing. Gene was a big Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals fan, following both teams constantly. A long-time Cardinals season ticket holder, he enjoyed attending the games with his son, Gene Jr.
Gene was very active in El Zaribah Shriners of Phoenix, AZ. He enjoyed the fraternity of the El Zaribah Shriners and their work in improving the lives of children and families. This includes his time as a member of their Oriental Band.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, sister Pauline and brother Marvin. He is survived by his wife Arlie of 44 years, his son Gene (Kitty) Terrell Jr., daughter Vicky Solomon, Debbie (Mike) Brooks, Raymond Rumsey, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and friends.
Services will be held at Advantage Maryvale 6901 W. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85033 December 30 at 10 AM. The family request in lieu of flowers you would like to make a donation in Gene‘s honor to Shriners Children’s Hospital at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org
A funeral service for Amos will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Maryvale, 6901 West Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at 0387 - Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
