Aaron Mark Brandt, 21 of Phoenix, passed from this life July 5, 2012. He is survived by his mother and father, Marie and Mark Brandt, also of Phoenix. Also surviving are this grandmothers Janette Hancin of Streator, IL and Bernadine Brandt of Gibson City, IL.
Aaron was a student at Mesa Community College, and planned to pursue a degree in communications. A 2009 graduate of Desert Vista High School, he also attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ahwatukee.
An avid soccer player, Aaron played college soccer at UCCS his freshman year. His Arizona soccer career included three years on the varsity team at Desert Vista High School. A highlight of his high school soccer career was scoring Desert Vista’s goal during the state championship match in 2008, when the team finished as the runner-up in the 5-A tournament. He was elected captain of the Desert Vista team his senior year, and was the recipient of the team’s Desert Vista Joe Sellah Leadership Award in 2009.
His Arizona club soccer experience included several years in the Arizona Futbol Club ’91 team, SanTan Soccer Club ’91 Legacy and Ahwatukee Soccer Club Fire and Galaxy. He was a camp counselor at the Arizona Soccer Camp, in Pinetop, AZ.
Aaron also loved snowboarding, downhill mountain biking, hiking and physical conditioning.
Aaron loved his family and friends. With his zest for life, he brought smiles to all who knew him. The world lost a little light in his passing, but it gained a star in heaven.
There will be a Visitation from 5-8 p.m. with Vigil Service 7 p.m. for Aaron, Tuesday July 10th at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe. The Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday July 11th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, Phoenix. A Visitation will be held Saturday July 14th in the morning at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator, IL. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Streator, IL.
