Terry Michael Anderson, 72 of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away June 16, 2022 at his home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Monday, June 20, 2022 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson was born February 24, 1950 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky; son of the late Terrell and Joyce Pope Anderson. He was a long time truck driver with Yellow Freight Systems of 30 years. He was a dedicated distance runner, holding the world record in the 1991 Huba Buba 5 mile World Heavyweight Championship. Five years later, he ran a marathon in 2:49 and clocked a mile at 4:32. Not only did he travel all around running races, he just loved to travel.
Terry was an extreme practical joker, a dedicated father, brother, partner and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Lee Anderson.
Survivors include his son, Chris Anderson (Kristina) and their children, Chelsea, Arielle, Anthony and grandchildren, Khloe and Blake; daughter, Tracey Anderson Ridley (Mike Patrick) and her daughter, Hannah and her brothers, Matthew and Jonathan; long time partner of 22 years, Alice R. Pitts and her children, Travis and Chad (Ellen) and Chad's children, Ann Elizabeth and Logan, brother, Eddie Kelley (Bobbie), sister, Patricia Runchey and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
