Robert Franklin Mote, 83 of Salem, Al. went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 from his beloved earthly home on Lake Harding. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday May 6th, at Striffler Hamby in Phenix City with Pastors Rick Lipp and Ed Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening, May 5th, at the funeral home.
Mr. Mote was born December 17th, 1933 to Wade Hampton and Pearl Newsome Mote. He was the last surviving member of a family of ten children. He was a retired Brick Mason of many years and attended Faith Chapel Community Church in Pine Mountain, Ga. He was a beloved husband, father, and “Paw Paw” to his family who were so blessed by his life. Nearest and dearest to his heart were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his faithful companion and pet, River. He loved playing his mandolin and singing Gospel music which he affectionately termed “ Pickin and Grinnin”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Loraine Mullikin Mote, Three children; Roberta Harrelson (Rod), Cheryl Barr (Rex), all of Smiths Station, and Russell Mote(Tara) of Canton, Ga. Nine Grandchildren; Nathan Harrelson, Jared Harrelson, Rachel Shaw, Haley Hudson, Kyle Barr, Garrett Barr, Justin Mote, Ethan Mote and Madison Mote, and Five Great Grandchildren; Shepherd and Hope Harrelson, Brody Barr, Brooks Shaw, Landry Hudson, and numerous nieces and nephews which include two special nephews; Roy E. Gray and Johnny Roberts. His Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
