Successful businessman and entrepreneur, owner of Fletcher's Gifts Inc., a landmark Phenix City business. Fletcher Electrical Co. started by his parents in 1939, evolved into Fletcher's Gifts, Inc.. Mr. Fletcher was President and owner of Fletcher's Gifts, Inc. for 43 Years until his retirement in 2002.
Raised in Phenix City and educated in the public school system. He graduated from Central High School in 1951. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Social Fraternity and The American Chemical Society. He served in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict, attached to 1st Marine Division as a U.S. Navy Corpsman.
Involved in Phenix City Boy's Club as President, Phenix City's "Man of the Year" Award and Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Phenix City Rotary Club, where he was honored with the "Paul Harris Fellow" Award.
Active member of First Baptist Church in Phenix City for 50 years where he taught Sunday School and served as Deacon. The last few years a member of First Baptist in Columbus.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Fletcher, Sr., and his first wife, Mae Bond Fletcher and son-in-law Gary C. Roberson.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Ann C. Fletcher. Daughters: Deborah F. Roberson of Woodstock, GA, Nichole T. Gordy (Robert) of Smiths, AL.
Grandchildren: Matthew F. Roberson (Hayley) of Acworth, GA, Ryan M. Roberson and Joshua L. Roberson (Kathryn) of Woodstock, GA, Aivery L. Kelley, Thomas J. Kelley and Logan Gordy all of Smiths, AL.
Great Grandchildren: Ellie, Declan and Brandt Roberson of Acworth, GA.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL.
