Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary located at 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL 36867, Friday, May 19 from 6 – 8pm and Saturday, May 20 from 1 – 2 pm with funeral services at 2pm. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Hillside United Methodist Church in Ladonia located at 3737 US Highway 80 West in Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Shelton was born February 21, 1935, in Meridian, MS., daughter of the late Richard Harvey Gunn, Sr. and Thelma Lee Covington. She was a legal secretary for many years at Funderburk and Lane Attorneys at Law in Phenix City, where she retired after 38 years. She was Methodist by faith and attended Hillside United Methodist Church. She was highly involved with the Alcazar Shrine Temple in Montgomery, AL and Phenix City Shrine Club in Phenix City, AL where she served as The First Lady of Alcazar (1979), Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, Past President of the Phenix City Shrinette’s and Order of the Eastern Star.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Bobby D. Moore, Sisters; Lilybell Bounds, Beatrice Kinard, Brothers; Jimmy E. Gunn, Richard H. Gunn, Jr., William B. Gunn and her second husband, Earnest A. Shelton.
Survivors include Her sons; James B. Moore (Vickie), Albert K. Moore (Patsy) and Gregory R. Moore (Sissy), Sister; Thelma L. Gunn-Thompson and Sister-in-law; Elaine Vincent Gunn; 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Phenix City Healthcare (Arabella) Facility and Staff and Columbus Hospice of Georgia and Alabama for all their care during this time.
