Louis was an educator for many years for Raymondville ISD as well as Edinburg ISD. His primary passion was music and he began his music career in the early 60’s to the present year. He was the founder and leader of The Texas Country Band and the original Holy Smoke.
He is survived by his children: David (Nanette) Gomez and Daniel Simon (Leticia) Gomez; his grandchildren: Daniel Simon Gomez II, Nathan Alec Gomez, Lyssa Kasan Gomez and Michael Steven Gomez; and by his loving friend, former wife and mother of his children, Estella Woodward.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Gomez, Daniel Simon Gomez, Daniel Simon Gomez II, George Simo, George King Jr. and Homer Rincones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Palm Valley Memorial Funeral Home in Pharr from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at BT McAllen at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pharr. Services are under the direction of Palm Valley Memorial Funeral Home of Pharr.
