Georgina was born in Mexico City, Mexico and moved to Joliet, IL when she was 13 years old. In the ensuing years, she married and gave birth to her only son. Following a move to Pharr, Texas, Georgina was employed as a seamstress at Levi Strauss for over 20 years during which she was highly recognized as an employee leader and beloved among her colleagues. Following the closure of the Levi Strauss factory, Georgina embarked on a new journey to assist others by becoming a certified nursing assistant. Over many years, she provided medical assistance and comfort to many who appreciated her compassion and kindheartedness. Above all, Georgina’s passion was family and she primarily dedicated her time to bringing people together, to enjoy a meal or to share in a celebration. To many who knew her, Georgina was their “Tia” and she was always there to listen and provide encouraging words.
In recent years she has had multiple health challenges and succumbed to her illness surrounded by loved ones at Comfort House in McAllen, Texas
Mrs. Perez was preceded in death by her mother, Imelda Moreno; her father, Manuel Perez; brother, Pime Perez.
She is survived by her son, Julio Casillas (Lesley); two grandchildren, Sofia Casillas, Alejandro Casillas; five brothers, Victor Manuel Perez (Esther), Jose Gerardo Perez (Guadalupe), Joel Perez, Francisco Perez (Brenda), Itzcoalt Alvarez (Carolina); five sisters, Alicia Perez, Ofelia Perez, Virginia Valesquez (Isidro), Estela Wojtas (Henry), Rosalinda Ray (Junior); and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mass will be held at St Jude’s Catholic Church, 505 S Ironwood Street, Pharr, TX 78577, at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Comfort House or American Cancer Society.
