Wanda was born August 21, 1924 in Elgin, Texas, the sixth child and fourth daughter of Albert F. Doyal and Eva Patterson Doyal. She outlived them all. She attended elementary school in Elgin and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas in 1942. She married the boy next door, Clarence L. Collins Jr. and followed him on a twenty year military journey to Panama, Germany, France and all over the United States. They returned to Austin in 1962 and she lived in the same house for next 61 years.
Until her stroke, she loved to bowl and play bingo. She often played six bingo cards at a time, winning frequently. She loved to sing and was proud she could recite the books of the bible and the presidents from memory.
Wanda was predeceased by every relative of her generation on both sides of the family. Her husband Clarence passed away in 2000. She is survived by her son, Robert (Barbara) of Pflugerville, daughter, Glenda of Austin, and son, Richard (Kathy) of Round Rock. She had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and one step grandchild.
Her final years were made immensely more comfortable by the dedicated care of Devonay Ford and her mother Sonya. The family is especially grateful for their loving presence.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com for the Collins family.
