The greatest wife, mother, grammy, sister, aunt and friend, Shirley Patricia (Flynn) Turner, went to claim her heavenly reward while surrounded by her family and friends on July 7, 2015 at age 78. Patricia was born on November 21, 1936 in Austin, Texas to William and Bertha Flynn. She graduated from McCallum High School in 1954.
Patricia began her working career as a church secretary. Her career included employment with the Texas Department of Public Safety, The University of Texas, NASA, IBM and the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake, California. Her last job as a church secretary she dearly loved and was able to do for over 20 years. She found her true calling as a church pianist and organist and had the privilege of sharing her gift for over 30 years.
Patricia met her husband Robert Turner at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Austin while he was a student at UT. They were happily married for over fifty-five years. Throughout her life she was a huge fan of sports, especially her Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. She was very active in her church and loved spending time with her church family, especially playing table games. She also loved spending time with her grandsons, Zac, Chase and Silas. She was so very proud of them and so excited to witness their accomplishments. To them she was the “Best Grammy”. She cherished her family very much and her love was very evident to them. She was known to all as a fun-loving and very compassionate individual. There are not enough words to describe this wonderful Godly woman.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Ray Flynn; father, William Orval Flynn; brother, William Orval Flynn Jr.; sister-in-law, Adeline Flynn and niece, Rhonda Carol Thun. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 55 years, Robert Turner; daughter, Teri Lane Aguirre of Richardson, Texas and her husband Al and their son Zac; daughters, Kimberly Turner and Sheri Stewart of Cedar Park, Texas and their sons, Chase and Silas; sister, Carol Thun of Ridgecrest, California and husband Wayne; brother, Dan Flynn of Van, Texas and wife Susan; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
