Matthew David Phillips, born October 8, 1962, died at the age of 56 on September 21, 2019 in Cedar Park, Texas. Matthew graduated from Round Rock High School, Class of 1981, where he was a member of the Dragon football team. He was a corrections officer for Travis County for about 10 years and then worked in purchasing for Travis County for another 20 years.
Matthew loved to cook, barbecue, hunt, shoot guns at the range, and watch the Longhorns play on TV. He was known for his gregarious personality, contagious laughter, and engaging smile.
Matthew is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Phillips. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Megan Jimenez; Yesua Jimenez, son-in-law; and two grandsons, Diego Yesua Jimenez and Dillon Santiago Jimenez; his father, Wilburn Glenn Phillips; his siblings Franklin Phillips, Mitchell Phillips, and Melissa Marmor and many close friends and family members.
A visitation for family and friends will be at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
