Matt was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 19, 1962 to Herbert and Norma Hull. Matthew grew up in Mount Vernon, Ohio and worked diligently throughout his childhood to obtain the honor of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America.
Matt developed both personally and academically as he was a distinguished graduate of The United States Military Academy at West Point class of 1984. He served his country proudly as Captain, Artillery Commander and Howitzer Battery 1/2 Armored Cav. Regiment, as an Officer in the United States Army stationed in West Germany. *Grip Hands*
Matthew spent his career in regulatory affairs and quality assurance, working for multiple well-renowned companies coast to coast across the United States. Matt was working at Aerin Medical as a Director of U.S. Regulatory Affairs, when his time was cut short, as he had aspirations to retire with the company in Austin.
In addition to Matt’s successful academic and professional careers, he had a plethora of personal interests through which he met many life-long friends. He had a passion for rugby and played any chance he was given, both recreationally and professionally. His avid love for cigars and all things Tiki, including his remarkable Tiki Bar, “Rugger’s Reef” truly separated Matthew from the crowd.
Matthew lived life to the fullest, never saying “no” to any opportunity, whether simple or extravagant. He had an uncanny ability to reach every type of person, no matter how different, in a deep and positive way.
Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Norma (James) Hull. He is survived by his brother, Scott, nephew Donald, and adored great nephews Oakley and Magnus Hull of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Someone said we “live as long as the last person who remembers you”. If that’s the case; Matthew sure has a long time to go.
