Bessie Joyce Corley Menefee, passed away on Monday, the 19th of May in Pflugerville, Texas. Joyce was born on May 2, 1929, in Caldwell County. She was a long time resident of Austin. She was part of the "Greatest Generation", living through the Great Depression and WWII. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, dedicating her life to her family. She was a great cook and was known for her delicious desserts, especially her chocolate pies.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Emmett H. Menefee; her father, Eddie F. Corley, Sr.; mother, Kittie Mae Stone; and siblings E.E. (Gene) Corley, Eddie F. Corley, Jr., Cecil Wesley Corley, Bella Mae Corley, Sadie Clara Corley, and Effie Pearl Corley.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Elaine M. Cox and husband Billy of Round Rock; sons Harold Menefee and wife Deborah of Austin, and Ken Menefee and wife Melanie of Austin; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North 1H-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660 on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:30 am. Interment will follow the funeral service at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
