Our adored John Gomez Contreras, or “JC” as many knew him, 75, was called to his heavenly home on Friday July 19, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family as he entered eternal rest. He was born April 9, 1949 in Austin, Texas and completed his journey in Manor, Texas. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend who was adored and respected by many.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dionicio and Severa Contreras; brothers: Cleto, Vincent, Jesse, Julio and Don; Sisters: Rosa, Mary, Georgia, Lupe, Gloria, Josie; and his son, Joe Anthony.
He is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife of 35 years, Lydia; his daughter, Crystal Severa Jaimes and her husband, Robert; and his son, Anthony James Contreras. He is also survived by his brother, Valentino and his wife, Mary Ann; his father and mother-in-law whom he loved as his own, Joe and Nellie Alcantar; his beautiful grandchildren: Audrie, Eli, Alyssa, Adrianna, Alexia, Tammy, Halee, and Andrew along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
As a lifelong truck driver, John started and retired from his business, JC’s trucking. Driving was his passion and he never turned down a chance to get behind the wheel. An avid golfer, John was also a member of the local PAGA where he spent many weekends and made numerous friends and memories. Above all, spending time with his children and grandchildren was his favorite thing to do. They were his heart and soul. From family vacations at the beach to playing Uno and taking them for early breakfast at McDonald’s, he was the best grandpa in their eyes. He always made time to attend their school lunches and extracurricular activities. He truly was the best gift to us all and will forever be in our hearts.
We would like to thank the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice who provided exceptional comfort and care for John’s final weeks of life. God bless you all for all that you do, we cannot thank you enough.
He would always say “See you later, alligator”. We’ll see you after a while, crocodile.
Pallbearers will be his adored brothers-in-law, Henry Ochoa and Carlos Ochoa, and his loving nephews: Michael Ochoa, Arnold Gonzalez, John Pesina and Christopher Contreras.
