Jerry Witte's story began on July 12, 1957, in Austin, Texas, when he was born to Wilbert and
Alice Witte. Throughout high school, he enjoyed being an active member of the school band till
his graduation from Sidney Lanier High School in 1976. This was then followed by his
attendance at Southwest Texas University.
He touched many lives throughout the everyday. He worked with the State of Texas and Sears
for many years and was a regular face at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin, where he was
a lifetime member. Many within his community will remember him fondly as someone who was
always offering his help to others.
His favorite place was the Witte farm in Pflugerville, where he spent many hours helping his Dad
with the many tasks needed to run a farm. Over the years, even long after his farm work days
were over, he continued to ask with great interest how the crops were doing and how successful
the final harvest was.
He was especially proud of his niece and nephew, who he loved very much. He frequently
referred to Matt and Robin as his “Movie Stars” and, as with the farm, was always asking after
them. Staying up to date on their adventures and if they needed anything, he truly wanted to
help.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Alice Witte. He is survived by his Sister,
Karen Weise; her Husband, Wes Weise; Nephew, Matt Weise; Niece, Robin Whitney and her
Husband Chris Whitney; Aunt Colleen Mehner, and a host of cousins that he was blessed to
have as family.
