Ms. Gloria Fay Jackson was born on January 7, 1939 in Hubbard, Texas to the late R. K. Jackson and Elvan (Washington) Jackson.
Ms. Gloria was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School. Ms. Gloria had a strong faith in God and was very independent which was instilled in her at a very young age by her mother and father. As one of eighteen children, her brothers and sisters were taught to do more than one thing at a time (multitasking). I CAN’T & I WON’T did not have a name in this household. Hard work & Strength was a must along with zero tolerance. She always worked hard, never showing tiredness efforts toward anything she had to accomplish in life. She was employed as a supervisor for Dobiemall Cafeteria located on the co-op next to the University of Texas, until her retirement. It was here where she met and became truly special to so many people including Graduate Students, College Professors, Students, Parents and an endless list of people. It has been said Gloria never met a stranger. Ms. Gloria attended St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church where as it was mentioned she possessed a very strong faith in God and truly enjoyed her church family. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite times of the year were the holidays while celebrating with lots of cooking and eating. She was a true one of a kind individual, she can be forever remembered for her warm heart, generosity, sense of humor, and her beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four children, Robert Jackson, Curtis Conway, Betty Conway and Chriss Conway all of Austin, Texas; one sister, Peggy Jackson of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 3 great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many and close friends. Gloria was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen White, and 16 brothers and sisters.
