Francis L. Mosler

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alla Juarine (Hill) Mosler. His children, Mitchell Wayne Mosler (Un Kyong), Matthew Travis Mosler (Camille) and Melinda Diane Johnson (Craig). His grandchildren, Kimberly Kyong Mosler, Travis William Mosler (Melody), Madison Camille Mosler, Michaela Mosler Allison (Joshua), Rebecca Caprice Mosler, Brett Thomas Johnson, Brooklyn Diane Johnson and Chloe Michelle Mosler. Great grandchildren, Elliana Lavonne Mosler, Kendall Kayli Allison and Maxwell Pierce Mosler.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Rudolph Mosler-Fowler and Edna Arnold Mosler-Fowler and brother, Leroy Wayne Mosler. His grandparents, Francis Luther and Inise Mosler and Judson and Margaret Arnold.

His Pallbearers will include Mitch Mosler, Matt Mosler, Travis Mosler, Craig Johnson, Brett Johnson, and Joshua Allison.

Frank was born in Long Beach, California in 1931. After graduating from Mt. Diablo Union High School he attended Napa Junior College, Fresno State College and eventually transferred to his dream school, the University of Southern California. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1954. “Fight On!”

He began his military service in 1955 and served as a Fighter Pilot in the United States Air Force. He proudly flew the F-80, F-86, F-100 and the F-104. He was Honorably Discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1963.

Aside from his family, his proudest accomplishment was becoming an Airline Captain at Pan American Airlines. He flew with Pam Am for twenty years before his retirement in 1991. He then went on to fly for United Airlines until his second retirement in 2001.

As a pilot, both in the military and commercial airlines, he lived and traveled all over the world. Though he was in the air quite a bit, when he came home, he always made it a priority to be there for his family. He did his best to attend, coach, cheer or click a stopwatch at every sporting event participated in by his children and then his grandchildren.

Frank will be remembered for his love of all things USC, singing (off key) every day of his life, and addressing women as honey and darlin’ long after it became politically incorrect. If he hugged you it was a strong side-arm hook around your neck and then kissing you full on the lips leaving a dollop of chapstick and the scent of Old Spice in his wake. He was the keeper of arbitrary information and would frequently ask you random questions to which nobody but him would have the answers. He was one of the few people who was always, no matter the situation, completely and comfortably himself.

Frank was an active member of First Baptist Church Round Rock, Kiwanis, Daedalians, Super Sabre Society and the Quiet Birdmen.

It follows that as the sun sets in the west and the day ends with its setting, so too does a fallen pilot fly into the sunset of his or her days. Fly freely, Frank, straight into the arms of Jesus.

A funeral service for Francis will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas, followed by a committal service at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
